Halloween - Part I

Elliott and I went to a great Halloween party on Friday afternoon. He dressed up as a fireman for the occassion. The three of us are going to the Ortmans' for Halloween tomorrow night. I'll take my camera and post a "Halloween - Part II" with pictures of Ned and Elliott.
Below is the treat we brought to the party. I got the idea from a high school friend's facebook page. I had planned on making them on Friday morning before going to the party but ending up taking a nap after a night with very little sleep. Knowing how excited I was about these, Jesse headed to the kitchen and made them without being asked. I love my husband!! They are marshmallows dipped in milk chocolate and rolled in goodies. The recipe I looked at specifically suggested milk chocolate to prevent overwhelming the marshmallow. We rolled them in orange flavored crunchies, heath bar (yum!), and cinnamon flavored chocolate chips (double yum!). I think we'll make these for other holidays using different toppings.

Six Weeks

It's hard to believe our little boy is already six weeks old. And he's not that little anymore! I weighed him this week and he is already 12 pounds! Here are a few pictures of post-bath tummy time on Friday. Look at that cute chub!

And I'm spent!

We came home on Thursday night to our first snow. It was still around on Friday morning when I took these pictures.

Ned & Elliott

Elliott and Ned spent quality time together today. Ned is really excited to teach Elliott all sorts of things as he gets bigger. Ned is so cute when he talks about Elliott. He knows they are cousins and that Elliott used to be in Autie Em's belly (that's why it was so big, which he pointed out often when I was pregnant). Here are some pictures of the two of them together.

Ned wondered about all of Elliott's noises (grunts, squeeks, burps, etc.)

Ned was showing Elliott his big book of heavy equipment.

Elliott wasn't too impressed in this picture.

5 years later

We went for a walk at Knox Farm on Tuesday. It's been a little over 5 years since we were married on this very spot and now we went back as a family.

Here are a couple more pictures of our wedding day. I still think of that wonderful day often. I married a wonderful man -- and we had a really great party!!

One month old!

Elliott turned one month old on Sunday. He also had his first bottle of pumped milk. This boy is an eater. He polished off the whole bottle in less than five minutes. We went to his one month doctor's appointment on Monday. His measurements confirmed his rapid growth. He now weighs 10 lbs, 11 oz, putting him in the 75th percentile for weight (he was 8 lbs, 6 oz at birth). He's in the 95th percentile for height!! He was 20.5 inches at birth and measured 23.25 inches at one month. Can you imagine gaining 25% of your body weight and growing 15% of your height in one month??

Elliott does really well in his bath bucket these days. He posed for this picture this morning. See how good he is at holding his head up!

Jesse and his boy

Our friends Rachel and Diego came over for dinner last night. After dinner, Elliott entertained us with alert happy time following a marathon feeding (seemed to be his M.O. yesterday). I was able to get some great shots of Jesse and Elliott.

Showing off muscles

Elliott supports his own head. He's still a bit wobbly and occasionally flops over.

He smiled, and I melted.

Elliott smiled at me for the first time on Friday. It happened just as Holly described it based on the first time Ned smiled at her. Elliott smiled, and I melted with love. I called Jesse over and Elliott smiled for us again.

This wasn't his first smile but it was the first smile at me. He smiled at Holly on Thursday when we met her for lunch near her office in Niagara Falls. Apparently Ned's first smile was to Marisa, Mike's sister. Therefore, Holly thinks aunts must have a special touch for the first smile. Aunts are pretty special so I can believe that. No pictures of the smile but I'll try to catch it when he smiles more regularly. It's really cute!

Elliott and Friends

On Monday, Elliott and I went for a walk with my friend Leigh. As you can see, she is ready to pop with Elliott's soon-to-be friend, Baby Boy Smith. Kudos to Leigh for setting a quick pace on a three mile walk one day AFTER her due date! We're excited for Baby Smith to arrive any day!!
We spent Tuesday at Poppy and Coco's house (those are my parent's grandparent names). Elliott had the most happy awake time we've had so far. Here is a great picture of happy Elliott with Uncle Ted. While we were there, my dad and I weighed Elliott on the shipping scale Ted and my mom use for their business. He's 10 lbs, 4 oz!!! It's a different scale than his "official" weigh-ins at the doctor's office but this boy is certainly well fed and growing!

Three Weeks Old!

Elliott turned three weeks old on Friday. We took a similar picture of him on the couch a few weeks ago. He's bigger already!

We went to the farmers market on Saturday morning and met my parents there. My parents are watching Ned for the weekend while Holly and Mike are in California for a wedding. Ned was very excited to buy apples and sausage at the market. He was also excited to carry the basket. So cute!

Jesse talked to Elliott about his neck strength this morning. He's supporting his head quite well but it is still a bit wobbly.
Elliott "helped" Jesse sweep leaves off the deck.

We went for a walk in our woods today. It was a beautiful day. Elliott slept for half of the walk and then let us know he was hungry! That cut the walk short.

Resting after a full day! We love this boy!

Watching Elliott stretch while waking up is very entertaining for us. Here are a couple of shots from last night.

Week 3 - Part 2

Relaxing on the couch with Mom.

Looking around after getting clean pants.

Looking at the ceiling again. Our house is a timber frame. We think he likes the contrast between the white ceiling and the dark beams.

Elliott and Coco. She brought over this sweater that she knit for me when I was a baby.
