Trip to the Gehls' Farm

Elliott and I went up to visit the Gehl family at their new farm. Lori was our doula for Elliott's birth and will be with us for baby #2 as well, as long as she doesn't go into labor at the same time I do. She is due three weeks after my due date. The Gehls used to work power jobs in DC and opted to move into farming. They sell delicious chickens, eggs, meat rabbits, turkeys, and pork. They are adding cows to the mix in the fall. Elliott and I loved seeing their new farm and all the animals.

First look at the bunnies.

Elliott watched while Lori's kids showed him how to met the bunny.

"Soft."

We also saw young turkeys, bunnies only four days old, and a big pig named Mary Mary with her six piglets that were one week old. Elliott talked about all of the animals, and especially "Mary pig," for days.

The kids all played on their bikes in the driveway for an hour or more. Elliott spotted this cool vintage pedal tractor in the garage and ran right to it.

Happy as a clam on the tractor!

Thanks to the Gehl family for a fun morning and great lunch!
