First Haircut

Elliott had slowly been growing the typical one year old mullet - short up top, long in back.  We kept saying, "we really need to cut that," but never found the time (and his baby hair is so cute!).  So, on Sunday morning, Elliott had his first haircut.  What does it take to cut his hair?  Two parents and Feist singing with Sesame Street on the iPad.  This is Elliott's favorite video - it lulls him into contentment while we use the nebulizer, cut his nails, cut his hair.  And, it doesn't drive us crazy.  In short, it is amazing.

Watching Feist.  During the haircut, he sat on the stool like a big boy.

We left that cute fluffy hair on the top.

Cleaned up in the back. Mullet no more!

After Dinner Play

Elliott is quite the character these days.  We are constantly amazed and amused by him.  He has gone from a baby to a little person with a huge personality.  We enjoyed fun after dinner playtime the other night.

Hi Mama!

He was pushing this toy box all around the house.

Boom!  He is a graceful faller when he falls on his bum.  Forward falls?  Sometimes not so graceful.

Daddy! Why are you sitting on my dinosaur?

Let's sit together.

I like it better on your lap.

My boys!

Elliott has taken to standing on anything and everything . . . hence the tumbles.

Big smiles

That cute head tuck?  That is a full body laugh.

I love my kid.

My New Car

We've mentioned before how Elliott LOVES the Cozy Coupe car.  Clothing was optional when playing in Ned's car.  When picking up Elliott at daycare one day, my dad could not get Elliott out of the car in the playground.

Jesse decided it was time for Elliott to have his own.  So, as he left for his last trip, he order the car and said to me, "good luck putting it together."  Neither one of us thought assembling a plastic car for a one year old would be difficult . . . we were wrong.

Getting started!  Elliott had been looking at the pictures on the box for a few days.  He was thrilled to sit in it, even without wheels.

Smiley boy

Part of the assembly team.  Aunt Sue from Boston was in town and jumped right in to help out.

Elliott's pit crew.  Perhaps assembly was extra challenging with Elliott sitting IN the car.

What are you doing?  Oh!  My roof!

All done!  Only three adults, one iPad, one late discovery of a replacement page for the instruction, and one hour later.

We might have told him he had to get out of the car.

We now have to park the car in the office so it is out of sight, out of mind, except for playtime.  The Cozy Coupe is a hit!!

Dancing!

Elliott has started dancing.  Holy cuteness, batman!  We've been having some great dance parties in the kitchen these days.  Here are a couple of videos of dancing in his PJs last weekend.

More Pots and Pans

Elliott was in a "special" mood the other night.  At a loss for how to keep him happy, I opened the cupboard of pots and pans and all was right in the world again.

Assessing the situation

Going in for more

I like this one . . .

I think I need to be closer

I have to make sure I get them all out!

It's a little fort.

Here I come, Mama!

Oh, a strainer.

On the move

He started being very helpful by putting things away.

Putting the big pot "away."

Apparently this is Elliott's version of "away."  The pot stayed sitting there, precariously placed.  It is good to know we have this backup toy chest in the kitchen, though it does get quite loud and messy underfoot!
