During dinner, Laura went to her cabin to retrieve the ice cream maker (because that's how we roll while camping). She came back and quietly said there was a b-e-a-r over there. Several of us said "A BEAR!!!!" and went running to check it out. The bear did not look happy or healthy. I peaked at it up a tree, near the road, far from our cabins. We left it in peace and returned to our huge steak dinner. A little bit later, said bear came sauntering up next to our main cabin!! Little Lucy was strapped in a highchair eating her dinner. I grabbed her. Devon and Kevin (being awesome) made a ton of noise with metal bottles and utensils, successfully scaring off the bear. But, he parked himself in a tree between the Ortman's cabin and the Chmura's cabin. We spent the next half hour or so monitoring its location. Devon went to alert the park rangers who came back and scared the bear off with their car sirens. Oh, I felt so much safer knowing the bear was scared off by sirens.
