Friends, Mother's Day, and Standing Up

We have been trying to schedule a playdate with Danielle & Emma, Rachel & Elisa, and Tiffany & Colden for months. We finally made it happen a few weeks ago. Hopefully the next one is soon because all the kids had a great time!

Elliott loved Colden's awesome playroom. He made himself at home in this vintage desk.

Lucy and Rachel got to snuggle. It was warm enough that day for Lucy to sport her new denim romper. Baby girl clothes are the cutest! Especially on her butter-soft skin and chubby thighs.

Look who is all proud of herself!

Mama! I stood up all by myself! 5/10/14.
Here is Elliott standing around the same age.

I went to a painting class with some girlfriends for my birthday. Before . . .

And after. To be determined whether this lives in the house of hidden in the basement. I have never been the artistic type but I loved doing this class, in large part because my awesome friend Vanessa owns the shop and taught the class.

Sadly, both kids got sick that weekend. Mother's Day brunch went on without us. We stayed home to manage fevers and give Elliott nebulizer treatments. So, for Mother's Day, I mothered.

A bonus of being able to stand up is being able to crawl into the laundry basket.

Sink bath!

My Mother's Day treat to myself was sitting outside with a magazine while the kids napped. It lasted about twenty minutes until one of them woke up.

They really play with each other now. It warms my heart.

She moved on from emptying the laundry basket to emptying the paper recycling box.

Wegmans drivers.

Lucy likes playing with the ears on the cow Elliott got from Coco and Poppy for his first birthday.

Poppy watched the kids one afternoon and surprised Elliott with a new T-Rex. A few hours later, they had lost T-Rex. I spotted him the next day in the flowers.

Lucy's First Day of School

Our big girl has started going to school one day a week. (It's daycare but I feel better about myself if I call it school.) I've been squeezing work in during naps, after bed, and when kids are under foot. Needless to say, it has not been working so off to school Lucy goes.

Ready to go in her new Lilly dress.

She is such a happy girl.

The proud big brother wanted his picture taken, too.

May 8. 2014. First day of school!

Lucy rode in a swing for the first time. She loved it . . .

And then she fell asleep. Cute!

We did a little after school photoshoot.

Big smiles!

Goofy faces, too.

Matching PJs are the Cutest!!!!

Cute kids in cute matching PJs? Cutest thing ever!! When I posted these on Facebook, a friend commented "what is the point of having two kids if you don't dress them alike." We don't do a lot of matching outfits but, when we do, it makes my mama pride come out.

I went up to check on the kids before I went to bed after one of our great babysitters had put them to bed. I was so excited to see their sleeping bodies in matching PJs from Louise. We had to take pictures in the morning. Lucy looks confused by Elliott's craziness.

This is the keeper. I now have this on the lock screen of my phone. I smile every time I see this picture.

A few nights later, I put them in matching PJs again. My first few attempts at getting a cute picture were unsuccessful.

Elliott wanted nothing to do with it.

This is what 90% of my pictures look like.

Snuggles.

The winner. Playing with cars from Aunt Jenny White!

These PJs are hand me downs. The big pair belonged to Ned and the little pair belonged to Elliott. Here are the boys in them at Ned's third birthday party. It was a pajama party, in case you were wondering.

Everyday Life

Some snapshots of our regular days.

Elliott was hiding from me when he didn't want to leave my parents' house. Can you find him?

I love to take cute pictures of these two snuggling.

Hugs.

Mama? Why is he squeezing me?

5/3/14. Pulling herself up to her knees!

Watching the Kentucky Derby.

DJ Lucy.

Hi, friend!

Look at my hat, Mama.

One of our weekend walks with the Magees. Tim was a trooper and carried Elliott for much of it.

We try to FaceTime with Daddy daily but the time change and schedules make it hard to connect every day. Lucy reaches out for Daddy. That's long distance love.

5/4/14. Supporting herself on her feet. She got help from Coco getting up to standing.
Cameo in the back from Leslie who timed her trip from DC to be here around my birthday. Thanks, Leslie!

Caught in the act. There is Elliott climbing into Lucy's crib.

Isn't this what you wear to read books?

Emma came over for a playdate.

Mmmmmm. Plastic celery and banana.

Lucy learned rough snuggling from Penny and is now using the technique on Emma.

Now that Lucy is on the move, she crawls over to see Dutch.

Is there anything cuter than sleeping kids? I'm about to head to bed myself and I'm looking forward to checking on them.
