Calistoga Wedding

Jesse's cousin Trevor married Maura in Calistoga, CA in early September. We made a family vacation out of it and spent a week in California.
Up early for our flight out. Elliott was a hit in the airport with him backpack and bunny.

Early AM snacks.

Both kids were very popular on the flights and airports.
The descent on our first flight was terrifyingly bumpy. The entire plane was silent as we started to go down, got tossed around, went back up, circled, and came down to land. Elliott broke the silence with "I want to go bumping again."

Taking in some California sunshine.

Early wakeup, long travel day, time change . . . tired boy.

Our lovely rental in Calistoga (Napa Valley).

I love the crazy plants out there. This might be an aloe plant.

Debbie and John, Jesse's aunt and uncle, had a trampoline at their rental house. We stopped by for a bit and the kids had a blast.

Elliott nearly took out Lucy but she is a trooper and fared well.

She loved the bouncing.

In action.

We enjoyed a dip in our pool before the rehearsal dinner. Elliott is so tall that he could stand on the third step.

Pool selfie.

Pickles!

Relaxing.

Lucy loved the stairs in our rental house. She went up and down like this the whole weekend.

Nothing says vacation like a giant chocolate cookie at 10 am!

We enjoyed the bounty of the Calistoga farmers' market.

We visited one winery in the Napa Valley.  Two kids under three is not conducive to many tastings in wine country.

Casetello di Amorosa was constructed in this century using materials and techniques authentic to the 13th century. It's over 120,000 square feet and made for a great outing. The wine? Not so great. The views? Great.

Approaching the castle.

Jenny and Andrew came up from Santa Cruz to spend the weekend with us (and watch the kids while we went to the wedding). Here is Jenny checking out the animals with Elliott and Lucy.

Drawbridge and portcullis. Jenny and Elliott.

We probably weren't supposed to let him ride the lion but it sure is cute!

Jenny and Lucy in their matching outfits!

Awesome view from the top of the castle.

Jesse and his girl.

Down to the tasting room.

Close up view of the outside.

I like this remarkably striking rooster.

The wedding was beautiful. John, Trevor, Maura, Debbie, and Tyler.

We clean up well!

This wedding was amazing!
